RECIPIENT STORY: “we were incredibly lucky to fall pregnant on our first try”

Myself and my wife started our fertility journey with NUH Life in December 2018. As a
same sex couple with a number of friends who had previously used fertility services to start a
family, we knew the route that we wanted to take. 

We decided to have intrauterine insemination (IUI) and the whole process was explained to
us fully by the clinic. 

We told the clinic the characteristics we most wanted in a sperm donor and in March 2020,
we were given a choice of two. The decision was then easy, and the donor we chose had
everything that we wanted meaning we were ready to start with treatment. However COVID
then put a pause on everything, and it was July 2020 when were able to have our first try of
IUI. We were then one of the first couples to receive treatment when clinic opened again and
we were incredibly lucky to fall pregnant on our first try.

We are now hoping to expand our family with the same donor and are beginning the process for our second child. 

We are forever grateful to the sperm donor, who has enabled us to create our family. Also to the
staff at the clinic who always made us feel at ease with their support and communications
throughout the process.
