Why donate at an nhs clinic?
If you are considering donating sperm in the East Midlands region – why choose NUH Life as your clinic?
As the only NHS run donor bank in Nottingham, you can be assured that you will receive ethical, compassionate care. We firmly believe that sperm donation is a truly wonderful and generous gift, and should not be used as a way to make large profits for shareholders.
At NUH Life we strive to provide affordable, accessible fertility treatment for our patients by supplying high quality donor sperm at a reasonable price. Any surplus income generated from provision of donor sperm goes right back into the NHS – so you can be assured that as well as helping others have a much longed-for family, you are also helping to support your local NHS services. It was a big part of the reason that our donor below chose to donate at NUH Life rather than a clinic in the private sector.
Read his story:
“My experience with donating has been wonderful: the team at NUH were always there to support me with my doubts and enquiries.
Donating is not a simple thing, and nowadays a lot of men are scared because of the removal of anonymity in the UK. I was scared too, but after talking to the staff and doing my own research I realised we are actually quite lucky to have the framework we have in the UK when it comes to donating.
Men are discouraged from donating because they believe that a few years down the line these children will be looking for their lost “parent” while this is not really the case. The removal of anonymity was done to protect the right of donor-conceived people to know their origin and heritage.
A lot of countries in the world implement anonymous for profit donor schemes, and treat sperm as a commodity. I think this shouldn’t be the case, and the not for profit NHS service helps people create the families they want by making it as safe as possible for both donors and recipients while also making it affordable.
I really hope that more men will be encouraged to ask questions, clear their doubts and not be afraid, as you would really helping someone get the family of their dreams in the safest and most affordable way possible while also helping the NHS to keep costs down.”
